The current flag has the same design as 24 other states. It is simply the state seal on a single-colored background. Many other states are changing their flags for better representations of their states and it's time Massachusetts did the same.
A flag should be able to be drawn by a child and recognized from far away. The current flag is very detailed and is hard to recognize. The Old Massachusetts Flag is simple and can be recognized from far away, it also represents our state well.
No, changing the flag won't get rid of history. The seal is still a part of our coat of arms.
